FIFA POWER RANKINGS
QUARTER-FINALS

The last four teams remaining at World Cup 2026 are set: England, France, Spain and Argentina have all reached the semi-finals. With the quarter-finals complete, the latest FIFA Power Rankings, powered by Aramco, can now be revealed.

France stars Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé continued to impress in victory over Morocco, while Jude Bellingham’s brace against Norway has seen England’s talisman move up the attacking standings.

Elsewhere, Spain’s solidity is reflected by La Roja’s dominance in the defensive category and Argentina continue to feel the influence of Lionel Messi when it comes to scoring and creating goals.

ATTACKING:
Bellingham surges into second

There is no change at the very top of the attacking category as Mbappé remains in first place with a score of 8.98 after netting his eighth goal of the tournament and grabbing an assist in France’s 2-0 win over Morocco. The Real Madrid star is not only France’s best attacker; he’s also a reliable route forward for Les Bleus.

Bellingham is hot on Mbappé’s heels after another match-winning performance that sees him move up four places into second place with a score of 8.25. The England star had five attempts on goal and scored with both of his efforts on target against Norway. At World Cup 2026, he’s combined his midfield role with a centre-forward’s nose for goal.

Elsewhere, Messi drops down to third after Argentina’s win over Switzerland. The 39-year-old did not find the back of the net but did have four attempts on goal, made 11 line breaks by pass and contributed an assist. The captain remains vital to Argentina’s attack and is still their best finisher at the tournament.

CREATIVITY:
Gordon, Messi and Dembélé on the rise

France star Michael Olise remains top of the creativity category on a score of 8.31 but there’s plenty of movement elsewhere. Messi and Dembélé have both moved into the top 10 after vital contributions in their quarter-final ties, while England winger Anthony Gordon supplied his third assist of the tournament against Norway and moves seven places into second with a score of 7.82.

Belgium’s Jeremy Doku is just behind Gordon in third after moving up five places. The Manchester City winger attempted 17 take-ons and completed nine ball progressions against Spain, repeatedly carrying Belgium up the pitch with his attacking verve on the flank.

Mbappé also scores highly in the creativity category, highlighting how there is far more to his game than simply putting the ball in the back of the net. The France forward completed four ball progressions and six line breaks against Morocco, showing how he can help his team escape pressure and drive forwards into space.

DEFENDING:
Spain still dominate despite finally conceding

Spain finally conceded their first goal of World Cup 2026 against Belgium but still progressed courtesy of a 2-1 win. Their defensive solidity is highlighted by the fact that Rodri and Pedro Porro sit in the top two spots in the defending category, while Aymeric Laporte and Pau Cubarsí are also in the top 10.

Porro is the big story defensively after the quarter-final ties. The Tottenham defender adds energy to Spain’s backline but is also rock solid. The 26-year-old won six tackles, completed 77 of his 87 passes and won both of his aerial duels against Belgium to keep the danger away from Spain’s goal and send La Roja through to a date with France.

Didier Deschamps’s side are also well represented in the top 10 as Dayot Upamecano sits in fifth place and Lucas Digne is a new entry in sixth. The Aston Villa full-back’s ability to protect his flank against Morocco was highlighted with his five blocks, three interceptions and three tackles. He also made 51 of 53 passes, successfully helping France play out from the back and move up the pitch.

GOALKEEPERS:
Pickford making waves with England

When it comes to goalkeepers, England stopper Jordan Pickford is safely into the semi-finals and making waves in the FIFA Power Rankings, powered by Aramco, as he tops the standings for the In Possession category.

Pickford completed 26 of 36 passes and broke the line 12 times against Norway, relieving the pressure on his side and getting attacks started again. Pickford is also in the top 10 for the Defending the Goal category, thanks to his three saves from four attempts on goal in England’s quarter-final win.

Interestingly, there’s no change at the top of the Defending the Goal category as Diogo Costa, Gregor Kobel and Orlando Gill remain in the top three spots despite the trio having all exited the tournament.

Costa’s Portugal were knocked out in the last 16 by Spain but the goalkeeper certainly did his bit for the team. The 26-year-old made five saves from the six attempts he faced to keep him ahead of Gregor Kobel in the rankings.

The Switzerland goalkeeper also shone against Argentina, producing four saves from seven attempts faced and recording 22 goal preventions. However, it wasn’t quite enough for 10-man Switzerland as the defending champions progressed 3-1 after extra-time to set up a semi-final date with England.
