World Cup 2026 continues to deliver plenty of excitement and the latest FIFA Power Rankings, powered by Aramco, can now be revealed following the conclusion of the Round of 32.

Pre-tournament favourites France and Spain both enjoyed dominant wins, with stars Kylian Mbappe, Michael Olise and Rodri now leading the way in the attacking, creativity and defending categories.

ATTACKING:
Mbappe leads the big names

Mbappe is the World Cup’s top attacker with a Power Ranking of 8.70, sitting in top spot ahead of Lionel Messi on 8.23, Erling Haaland with 7.47 and Harry Kane on 7.44

The France star scored twice against Sweden, hit the target with four of his five attempts on goal and completed seven ball progressions. Mbappe’s goals were important but the numbers also highlight how vital he was to France’s all-round attacking display.

Messi stays in second place after Argentina avoided a shock against Cabo Verde. The Argentina legend scored a brilliant opening goal but the defending champions needed extra-time to beat the World Cup debutants 3-2.

With seven goals, Messi remains World Cup 2026’s top scorer but he offers much more. The 39-year-old was on target with seven of nine attempts on goal but also completed seven ball progressions and 14 line breaks, consistently turning possession into threat.

Kane is also impressing at World Cup 2026 and scored twice as England beat DR Congo to book a spot in the last 16. The Bayern star moves up 21 places thanks to a clinical performance which saw him score two goals from just three attempts on target.

CREATIVITY:
Olise out on his own

Olise is the World Cup’s top creator and remains out on his own at the top of standings in the creativity category with a score of 8.34. The Bayern Munich star put on another masterclass against Sweden, providing two assists, completing 63 of 70 passes and breaking a line 21 times. Simply put, he is the supply line to France’s superstar attack.

Mbappe is also on the rise in the creativity category and moves into second place with a score of 7.65. The Real Madrid star doesn’t just score goals, he helps supply them for France. Against Sweden, Mbappe racked up ball progressions, five successful take-ons and completed 16 line breaks.

There are also some new names in the top 10, including Spain star Lamine Yamal who rises 26 places following his performance against Austria. The Barcelona added danger and pace to the Spain attack, completing seven of 16 attempted take-ons, carrying the ball forward eight times and putting four of his six attempts on target.

Australia's Cristian Volpato and USMNT star Christian Pulisic are the new names in the top 10. Pulisic didn’t manage a goal or an assist in the victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina but completed six ball progressions, broke a line seven times and completed 23 of his 25 passes. Pulisic’s contribution ensured USA controlled the match, kept the co-hosts on the front foot and ensured they had a regular route forwards.

DEFENDING:
Rodri on top as Spain dominate

Spain are yet to concede a single goal at World Cup 2026 which is a key reason why La Roja have three players in the top four of the defending category. Rodri’s score of 7.53 puts him top ahead of Brazil's Casemiro on 7.51. Spain defender Pau Cubarsi moves 12 places into third with a Power Ranking of 7.47 and is just ahead of team-mate Aymeric Laporte on 7.39.

Rodri’s rise is built on how he helps Spain keep control and dominate possession. The midfielder completed 84 of 91 passes, broke a line 15 times, made seven tackles and regained possession eight times. Spain’s control ensured Austria didn’t manage a single attempt on target throughout the 90 minutes.

USMNT defender Chris Richards is also making waves and moves 21 places in sixth spot. Richards won all six of his aerial duels, made five clearances, five blocks and regained possession 10 times. The defender’s aerial dominance and the way he protects the penalty area meant there was simply no way through for Bosnia and Herzegovina as the USA march on.

GOALKEEPERS:
Paraguay hero Gill

Paraguay goalkeeper Orlando Gill put in another stellar showing in the Round of 32 to stay in top spot in the Defending the Goal category. Gill made five saves from six shots faced and recorded 22 goal-prevention actions as Paraguay knocked out Germany on penalties.

The In Possession category for goalkeepers sees South Africa stopper Ronwen Williams take first place despite his team’s 1-0 defeat to Canada. The goalkeeper completed 77 of 86 passes and 10 line breaks, showing just how valuable he is when his team have the ball.

Williams sits just above Cabo Verde’s Vozinha following a thrilling 3-2 defeat to Argentina after extra-time. Vozinha helped his team to play by completing 26 passes and breaking a line 10 times. He also made eight saves from 12 shots faced as his team came close to pulling off an incredible shock.
